Mt Kenya

Come and touch the sky in this park. In 1997 Mt. Kenya was inscribed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Thus,one of the most impressive landscapes in E.Africa with its rugged glacier-clad summits, Afro-alpine moorlands and diverse forests that illustrate outstanding ecological process. It is an international Biosphere Reserve.
There are over 800 recorded plant species with 81 species being endemic to Mt.Kenya. a variety of wildlife is also there. Such as; elephant, buffalo, eland, bushback, waterbuck, zebra, hyena, colobus monkey, white-throated guegnon and common at higher altitudes. The ubiquitos mt.Kenya rock hyrax. Animals rarely seen include leopard, bongo, giant forest hog and rhino.
It has an elevation range of approximately 2200m to 5200m which includes several distinct vegetation zones. These are; mixed broad-leaf forest, gallery forest, bamboo, giant health and hagenia, moorland tussock grasses, giant senecio and lobela-and, at the uppermost elevation, rock and ice. Visit all year; daily including public holidays.
